Are you an intern? You may get a pay raise.

Fair Work Commission President Adam Hatcher has announced that the minimum wage and modern award wages in Australia will rise by 5.75 percent from 1 July. This change aligns the minimum wage with the "C13 classification wage rate" applicable to most modern awards. 

Approximately 20 percent of the country's workers, totaling 2.7 million individuals, receive minimum award rates, while only 0.7 percent (180,000) earn the national minimum wage, which is the lowest rate. Although the increase won't completely alleviate the cost of living pressures faced by workers, it will provide some comfort.
