Date: March 2023
Latitude Financial, the company offers loans credit cards and insurance, says more than 100,000 copies of customers' IDs plus 225,000 customer records were stolen. Of the 103,000 documents stolen, around 97 per cent are copies of customers' driver's licences.
 
Update: more than 7.9 million Australian and New Zealand driver licence numbers were stolen, of which approximately 3.2 million, or 40%, were provided to Latitude Financial in the last 10 years.

  • Medibank data breach
Date: Oct 2022
The personal information of up to 9.7 million Medibank customers was stolen and released in October 2022

  • Optus data breach
Date: Sep 2022
Cybercriminals believed to be working for a state-sponsored operation breached Optus' internal network, compromising personal information impacting up to 9.8 million customers. Optus customer information including names, dates of birth, email addresses, driver’s licences, Medicare cards and passport numbers may have been exposed.
