Reddit has been hacked

Reddit, the popular forum was hacked. The hacker was able to access an old database backup and a newer set of “email digests’. The backup file contained usernames, hashed and salted passwords, email addresses and private messages before 2008.

The widely used SMS for two factor authentication which believed to be secure was intercepted by the hackers. If you’ve ever signed up for a Reddit account, you should change your password immediately. You should also update passwords for any accounts with a duplicate or similar password.
